Social media is one of the most effective ways for people to manage there social life as well as there up and coming business. Social media helps create new traffic to your business creating so many opportunities. Having a social media management tool can be one of the most beneficial tools when running social media accounts for your company. Many popular social media networks such as Facebook, Google+, twitter and many more have tools that will help you out. Through out this blog I hope to give you the proper information on how to manage your social media accounts.

In my opinion one of the best social media management tools is Hootsuite. This is also probably one of the most well known websites as it has so many beneficial tools. Basically Hootsuite will run your social media account for you while you are busy working on other business issues. Hootsuite provides a system that will allow you to schedule updates about your company or new offers that are coming out. As well as monitor conversations that are going on through out your many pages. What you can do is go on a set up a schedule of when you want something posted and how many times you would like it to be posted. So while you are busy and forget to post something the system will automatically do it for you. Another really cool tool that has just come out is the system will measure when the best time to post content. This will give you information when your post got the most activity and it will actually post for you, as it knows that this is the best time.

            IFTTT is another very powerful tool when wanting to manage your social media accounts. The reason that I bring up this tool is because it basically can enhance many other social media management apps. For example this app works great with Hootsuite. This tool allows you to automatically post when you find something that could be appealing to the audience your, company has focused in on. For example lets say your company is involved in surfing and lot so of you posts are about surfing. Well you can set IFTT to post when there is something crazy in the news about surfing. Or maybe you got an email about some big news IFTTT can send that over to your social media account letting your followers know about the big news. Overall this app is just an added bonus to the other management apps that you use.

            In closing I just want to say that social media is so important and beneficial to new and up coming businesses. This is a way to expand your uses and allows them to everything that they would want t to. You wont miss a beat if you are using these tools. They are designed to help you, so let them do their job and take some stress off your shoulders.

Organizational Uses Of Social Media

Social media is such a trending topic in today’s society mainly for the use of friendly encounters and watching funny videos. But there is a flip side to social media and that is the use of growing your business. Now days you will see ads on social media about someone’s company and how you can buy there product for such a low price if you call now. I know that there are many times that these ads or pages that I see do actually interest me enough to go to there website and check out what they are selling.

Adweekly claims that 73% of small business are using social media as a way to market their company and the new products that are coming out. “Facebook leads the way, with 82 percent of social small businesses utilizing this platform, ahead of YouTube (73 percent), Twitter (47 percent) and LinkedIn (47 percent).” This was something that I would have expected although I am a little surprised that Instagram was not on the list. I am someone who favors instagram compared to the other social media websites, and all over the place I see advertisements and they are usually something that I am interested in. This is because companies will look at the post that you like. Once they have that information they will usually put advertisements that would most likely fit what you are interested in. I think this is very smart for companies to do because they are locating the right people. I also read that sometimes people putting there company on social media is not always the best way to market. They say this because it is hard to locate your target audience. That is why if you are going to be on social media you need to get in touch with a system that will send your advertisements to the right people.

On the opposite side there can be negatives to using social media for your company. Many times people are worried about using social media for there businesses because of the negative comments that people will say about there products. But as we say in class all comments are good comments. When you have a mixture between good comments and bad comments it shows that you really are a company with potential we are all humans and mistakes will happen. You will never be able to satisfy everyone but with hard work you can make your company expand. Another thing that is really hard for new start up companies is the payment of advertising many times social media accounts will make you pay to post your information. Even then sometimes you have to pay based on how many page views that you receive. This can be very hard to manage as a small company that is not making very much money yet.

OKGO "Upside Down and Inside Out"

OKGO is a band that is known for their catchy music and most importantly their incredible music videos. They are best known for doing what is called a single shot video. This means that they film a very creative and hard video all in one shot. They do not cut scenes out or mesh different scenes together instead they film it all at once. This means that if they mess up in the very end that they have to do the whole video all over again. This is very talented and hard to do, this is almost unheard of as it is so complex. Another thing that I found very interesting is the fact that many times they lyrics do not always match with the movement of the objects around them. So there are lots of times that they have to very carefully move there lips to look as if they are singing. This would be so hard because sometimes they have to mouth the words very quickly and other times extremely slowly to make sure that the lyrics work correctly.

            OKGO became famous off of these very creative videos that they have. Of course with such an amazing idea of videography the best place to post it is YouTube. For many years they have posted there videos on to the media cite of YouTube. With the growing profit that they were making from YouTube, came trouble. This is how it all works, as you get views on your videos YouTube will pay you, as they are able to post ads on your video. As your video grows in views so does your profit margin, YouTube almost started getting jealous of the profit they were paying OKGO. So they decided to set up a bunch of new rules saying that OKGO would not be making as much on there videos as they previously were. This was not okay with OKGO so they decided to with draw from their YouTube contract and post there videos else were. This upset YouTube so much that they made it so OKGO was not allowed to post any of their videos on their media platform. This was not a huge deal to OKGO as they were fine with posting their videos elsewhere. The main platform that they went to was Facebook, now at first they were not going to make any profit off of posting videos there but it was okay because they were still giving there fans what they wanted.

            In OKGO latest video they pared with a company known as S7 airlines. S7 airlines agreed to fund the video as long as they got the credit for the video. This video was very impressive as they used zero gravity as their platform. Basically how it worked was OKGO was in a plane that would take them to a certain altitude and then drop really fast making them have zero gravity and they would perform there music video during that time. After the video was finished OKGO posted the video to their Facebook page, as they are not allowed to use YouTube as a platform anymore. Once the video was uploaded to Facebook S7 Airlines took the video without permission and posted it to YouTube this was a big problem as YouTube forbid them from posting any new content on YouTube. Within hours the video was taken down, "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by BMG_Rights_Management," as this was an issue for both companies’ one being OKGO and the other being S7 airlines. Luckily no one got in huge trouble as S7 airlines was not aware the video could not post the video to YouTube. As the video did get tone of views on Facebook it was nowhere near the views that they used to get on YouTube. OKGO was okay with that though as they were trying to expand their viewers and reach out to more then they had previously gotten.

In my opinion I would have done the same thing as OKGO. What I mean by that is I would have withdrawn form YouTube, I think it is so silly that YouTube tried to screw them over to make more money. In my opinion I think that YouTube made a huge mistake by letting OKGO leave there cite. Although YouTube tried to make more money in the end I feel as if they lost money when OKGO decided to leave them. When OKGO took the risk of leaving YouTube they did it with good intentions. They tried to expand there audience and tailor to there audience as it might have not been the best move as many people like YouTube as there platform for videos. The only thing that I think that they could have changed is maybe working a deal with YouTube and S7 airlines. That way their viewers could still watch the video on YouTube without running into any trouble with either company. I understand why YouTube didn’t want the video on there website but I do feel that a deal could have been made.

Class Cloud Assignment

Doing the day on the cloud assignment was pretty fun. I was a little disappointed due to the fact that no one famous or higher up joined our discussion. I am sure that is because they are very busy people who are monitored. Meaning that they have hundreds of people reaching out to them every day, so they are not likely to respond. It was pretty funny to see what everyone was posting about. Most of are tweets were pointless so there was not lots of discussion going on. The highlight of the discussion was a guy and girl in our class “flirting” with each other. They were just saying hilarious things to each other, which made it very entertaining. Through out the discussion there were many people who were responding back and forth between different subjects. From asking when the best time to eat at taco bell, all the way to serious articles that are effecting us. One article that really stood out to me was talking about ways to strengthen your social media accounts for employers to look at. Now there was not much discussion on this matter but it really helped me out. It is crazy how much social media effects us in the work place many times people just post things to get likes with out ever thinking about the future that tweet holds. I have heard of multiple people getting fired from a job for something that they posted. After reading this article I will be very careful with the content that I put on my social media as well as ways to strengthen my online reputation.

As I stated in the beginning we didn’t have a whole lot of people join our discussion. Honestly the only people that seemed to be in our discussion were the people in our class. I am not really sure how we could get a bigger response. One of our flaws was the fact that our hash tag was not very popular so twitter would not put it in the top tweets. I feel if there were a way to make our hashtag more popular people would have joined. Another thought that I had was the fact that many people created a twitter souly for the purpose of this class not giving there account allot of credibility. Many times when someone does not have a lot of tweets twitter will not “allow” him or her to use a certain hashtag. As I learned this from personal experience, at the beginning of the discussion my tweets would not pop up, as I did not have the credibility to be recognized by twitter. Lastly I think if we had had a discussion going on more people would have joined. Lots of us were just tweeting things that we thought were funny. Now I think with how hot the election/ president is right now many people would have joined. With a valid argument and discussion many people like to say what is on their mind. That would have really helped out our discussion. Overall this was a very fun activity and gave us some more information and help on how to work twitter.

Online Reputation

Now days your online reputation plays such a huge role in who you really are. Your online reputation can either benefit or bring you down. For example when going into the work force many employers will look at your online reputation. If you have a good clean online reputation this can really help you out. Other times when people seem professional in the work place but are not good through social media employers may not hire you or will let you go. So for this assignment I am looking at Joshua Wilson to see what his online reputation is like.

            I first started my search through the class discussions through Facebook. At first when I clicked on your name I was not sure if it was really you. I say that because you have very long hair in your profile picture, when normally it is pulled up. Also on Facebook it says that you studied at Eastern Wyoming College which through me off because you are now attending Utah State. After digging a little bit more I found that it was your profile. I did find that you went to Fremont High School in Utah. But the more I looked at your profile the more I realized that you don’t use your Facebook that often it’s more of an every so often kind of thing.

            I continued my search by going straight to Google and typing your name into Google. This was not much help as Joshua Wilson is quite a popular name as well as there is a famous musician with your same name which made it quite hard to find you just by typing in your name. Next I tried typing your name in and trying to find your twitter account. I was unsuccessful in finding you as most of the time you have to know their @name to find someone. So as my search continued I found your Instagram but you were private so at first I could not tell if it was really you. I took the chance and followed you. Luckily it was you, when looking through your Instagram. It seemed like you are a big hunter and it is something that you do for fun as well as a college Athlete for golf. I think the lay out of your Instagram is very appropriate for an employer to look at. It shows that you are a pretty good kid and that you have a life outside of work.

            After finding your instagram and seeing that you are a former college athlete I looked up your name and then golf. Surprisingly I found a profile set up just about you, this website gave all the information about you and your golfing experience. I found it very cool to see how talented you are in golf it said that you placed top ten in the conference both years that you were on the team. That is very impressive as an employer or someone who wants to find more about you this is very appealing.

            Continuing my search I found your linked in profile. I feel as an employer finding someone’s linked in profile is very important. In my opinion having a linked in profile shows that you are professional and you are trying to get your name out into the business world. Your linked in profile is also very experienced you have 500 connections, which is impressive.  As well as a very good biography about your self, which truly shows who you are.

            Over all I am very impressed with you online reputation. You have impressed me with the things you have out there about your self. Most of the time when you look people up you can see that they have a lot of dumb things about them selves. If I was someone who was looking to hire you, and I looked at your online profile I would hire you. I say that because your life outside of work seems to be fun and exciting. I think it is very important to show that you do have a life outside of work, but at the same time that you have a good life and that you are not going to embarrass the company or the employer
