“A viral video is any clip of
animation or film that is spread rapidly through online sharing. Viral videos
can receive millions of views as they are shared on social media sites,
reposted to blogs, sent in emails and so on”. I have always enjoyed watching
viral videos because they are usually funny or interesting content.
There are
many ways that viral videos become viral. In my opinion social media is the
main contributor to making a video popular. There are many times that I am
scrolling through my social media and I will see a funny video and it will have
been retweeted by thousands of people making it viral. Another really popular
way of making a video viral is through the old social media network known as
Vine. Vine was an app that would allow you to post videos up the 30-second
intervals. Once you see a funny video like that it is easy to look up who ever
created it on YouTube, and you are instantly hooked. YouTube is website that
you can upload any time of video that you would like. This website is where
people go to look up videos of there liking but many times before you click on
the video of your likeing you will see a video that has gone viral and has
millions of views which makes you curious to see why so many people are
watching that video. This is how video becomes viral one click after the other.
I read an
article on how to make a video go viral and the tips that were given were quite
helpful. First was to create a short high quality video. How many times have
you clicked on a video and the quality was bad so you stopped watching it.
Without the quality you will loose views which will stop you video from going
viral. Also you need to keep your video short and sweet. The best is a 2 to 3
minute video if your video is much longer then that many people feel as if they
don’t have the time to watch the video so keeping it a short length will help
your video grows with viewers.
Second is
to place keywords and descriptions in your title. Many times what catches our
attention is the words that are provided in the description. Many times I will
click on the video because the title sounds so cool and sometimes the video is
not that great. But that the trick you need to have descriptions that will
catch your views eye.
Third is to
become your own salesperson. You need to make sure that you sell your video so
that way people see it. The trick to doing that is to promote your video all
over social media. Also it is good if you can to have friends or people help
share your video. Along with comments on your video this will help bring
attention to your video.
Lastly is
to have others help do the work for you. What I mean by that is have your
YouTube setting allow for comments, ratings, votes, and shares. This will help
your video bring more attention and the people will see how popular your video
is which will help you reach your goal of having a viral video.
